The Biggest Mistakes in Online Dating

Join a dating site for free, set up a profile and wait until your perfect match comes across – Online Dating seems pretty easy. But actually, you can make a lot of mistakes that will reduce your chances in finding a mate. So, without further chit-chat, here are the Top 3 Online Dating Mistakes:

1. No Profile Picture.

This one is simple. It all starts with the picture. That’s why some people think it might be better to post no picture at all and let the words speak for themselves. There are wrong. They can’t even image how many possible mates they are losing. If you don’t have a picture in your profile, your chances of being contacted but also get (interested) responses are very low. A photo is a must. It shall be understood that the photo shows you and not someone or something else, which leads to point #2.

2. Bad Profile Picture.

Absolute No Gos: stupid party pictures where you look drunk, ones showing your great muscles, pictures in front of cars, bad quality (f.e. fuzzy) pictures and pictures that were made several years ago. Here’s what your pictures (you need several pictures for the ideal case) really need to demonstrate: (the following tips are for men only, ladies, you don’t need such tips ;-)

a) Pre-selection (You with some women shows that you already have women in your life)
b) Leader of men (You with some cool friends; again: no drunk pictures)
c) Protector of loved ones (You with your family… A baby on your arm is the best picture you can get)
d) Risk and Sports (You doing Sky Diving, Bungee Jumping, Surfing or other exciting sports)
e) World Citizen (travel pictures boost your value tremendously)

3. Giving her compliments.

Here's the simple rule: If the girl/ woman is beautiful, never make compliments on her looks. She hears (and reads) it all the time and to her you’re just the next weird guy trying to “impress” her (male logic ;-). Instead you can use a comment like “Hey, I like you hair color. Is it real?” You’re right, there’s a compliment inside, but at the same time she realizes you have doubts about her looks. You can still make a small compliment later in the conversation, but try to find something other than “You have beautiful eyes!”
